You Don't Have 20yrs.By Edison Swartz
I would like to say just one thing. If you are in your teens or early adulthood and you think you can just fool around and wait till you are an adult to find out what you believe. You are wrong.
My Sabbath school leader once asked us all a question. He asked: "What do you believe?" Most of the kids had no idea. Do you? I believe that Jesus is coming sooner than most of us think. Once people are marked with their master's mark, the mark of the beast and the seal of God, Jesus is going to come to take all his people home with him. So the question is... What do you believe? Do you believe in God's Word [the Bible] and its legitimacy? If yes, do you follow the Bible's teachings? Paul writes: "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." (1 Cor. 13:1) Are you just saying that you are a Christian and yet you do not follow a single word of what a Christian should be doing? Being a Christian means that you are a follower of Christ. Are you a follower/disciple of Christ? My Sabbath school leader also asked: "When should you decide what you believe?" "When you are an Adult." was the general opinion. Do you really have to wait all those years to be a child of Christ's? Does Jesus only want full grown people? Definitely not. Jesus will take you in even if you are 5 years old! Imagine this with me... |
Verse of the Day:
|
Justin is fifteen years old... he doesn't really care about what happens to the spiritual portion of his life right now. He goes to church but he does it just to please his parents. He doesn't get anything out of it and it is just boring. Right now he just wants to have fun. I am not saying that fun is bad, but sometimes when it gets in front of your relationship with God you should find another activity. Besides, having a relationship with God is fun! Anyways... the years of Justin's life passed on and pretty soon he stopped going to church all together. He had a brand new Ford Mustang, he had a girlfriend and all the friends that he ever wanted. Every once in a while he thought about God and church, but his life was going good right at this moment. He didn't need God right now. He would save that for later. When he was older. Like, 24.
A couple more years later... by this time Justin was 37. He still was saving God for later. Finally that glorious day came when Jesus came to take his children home. Justin realized this and tried to 'prepare' at the last second. Jesus knew that Justin was just doing it because he wanted to be saved. But he was doing it for the wrong reasons. Its like marrying your partner only because that special person has lots of money. Justin was too late. He had put off Jesus too long. Jesus could have come at any point in his life.
Don't stuff Jesus into a box and lock him away in your attic. Take up your cross and follow him. The world does not turn around you. Accept Jesus' friend request today. He wants you to be his friend and for you to follow him.
Most people would agree that they would maybe agree to "friend" Jesus on Facebook, if He used it. Would Twitter be the only way that you would "follow" Jesus? Well... Even though Jesus doesn't use our social media, he does use something more personal and scam free! Just pray to him and ask him how you can become his child. I am sure he will guide you through the process! I pray that you will accept Jesus today. - Edison S.
